David Wiley touches upon an important problem with social networking sites. A main problem with existing social networking sites is that they are closed – and that they are owned by others than you. Why should we confine our information and data to a closed system? It is possible to do the same tings and use the same features on the web outside these sites. I guess the question is: Why not use your personal weblog as a basis for social networks?
See David Wiley’s post on the subject, and how he is using his weblog.
